We are blessed to have Rob home for Easter!  He returns to the hospital for more treatment next week, but in this moment he is home and feeling pretty good as the effects from the last round of chemo have almost all worn off.  We went to church in the morning, came home for a snack and a rest, then all helped to make an excellent feast.  The food was really the star of the day as we went to great lengths to really go above and beyond and make it extra special.  The therapy really messes with Rob's ability to eat.  With this brief pause in poison we took the opportunity to make sure Rob had some delights to hold onto while he was unable to eat: diet-restricted because of his low blood counts, little to no appetite, or taste-bud deficient.
   Easter Service was lovely and Rob enjoyed being able to attend church.  The weather was sunny, but a chilly 45 degrees.  Rob bundled up and was so happy to have a fire, his trusty grilling supplies, and his boys so that he could do his favorite thing  - grill meat!
   Sarah and I prepared the table, the desserts, and cleaned the dishes.  We ate, and ate, and ate - took a break - and then went back for desserts and coffee.  We watched a fun movie and enjoyed the afternoon and evening together.
The menu:
everything (except the dessert) was prepared on the grill.
Salmon soaked 24-hours in a star-anise brine
Steaks in a red wine and garlic marinade with tarragon butter
Veggies in white wine, fresh herbs, and olive oil. (yellow squash, zucchini, bell peppers, and red onions)
Sweet potatoes glazed in a brown sugar and bourbon sauce.
Mixed berry cobbler & Crème brûlée

Happy Easter Everyone!  He is Risen!
"When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay."
