I'm dreaming of a white DAY-AFTER Christmas

We woke up to a fresh blanket of snow. Not much, but enough to have to shovel and enough to play in. Noah helped shovel, and Phantom ate his weight in snow.

Here is a fun video of Phantom. Maybe you can get a better sense of how cute he is, because in the pictures it's hard to tell what he even looks like, he is SO BLACK!

The Trees behind our house covered in frost and snow made for a beautiful winter backdrop for all our photos.

The kids managed to scrape every bit of snow from the backyard together to build this little guy. They put him up on the little tykes slide so that Phanton wouldn't eat himAfter everyone was in there was hot chocolate and left over pie. mmmmmm, snow is good.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Sarah was happy to receive a bunch of Land's End clothes, the DS game she has been wanting "forever", and Season 2 of "Mork & Mindy, her favorite television show, and a battery book light that clips on the spine so she can read in the car and late at night when she's supposed to be sleeping.
Noah received some clothes and Converse Hi-tops, Season 2 of the Muppet Show, a Star Wars Lego watch. and his long-awaited Nintendo DS. Noah wins the award for the best expression and speechless grin. He had no idea that he would get his DS and was totally surprised. When he first opened the package all he saw was the Star Wars Lego game, and he was happy enough - but then Sarah said, questionably, "That's for a DS?" Then Noah looked down and saw the other box and realized that he got a DS to go along with the game!!!
Micah received some clothes and Converse Hi-tops, 2 brand new Veggie Tales DVDs, the Playmobil Pirate Ship, and a Playmobil Pirate Captain.

Christmas Eve

Our Christmas Eve this year began at the home of our friends. We had a spaghetti dinner and then exchanged some presents.

Sarah was excited to get some cute toe socksWe gave them a fun family game

Then it was on to the Christmas Even candle lit service at our church. The kids' choir sang 2 songs. Noah and Micah were a part of the kid's choir and performed 2 songs. Sarah is a part of the adult choir, but none of those pictures turned out. It was a lovely service. After church we went caroling, and then to our friends' house nearby for an open house. It was a great time of fellowship with lots of Christmas goodies. I didn't take the camera out of my bag though! We headed home in a dense fog about 9:00 PM and as per our family tradition, the kids get to open their stockings. The got chocolate and their yearly Hallmark ornament. This years Christmas Eve stockings have been brought to you by Grandma & Grandpa in Florida.

This was Micah's first year to get an ornament not part of the "1st years" club. He received a little mouse sleeping in a crayon box in celebration for his love for drawing and school. Noah received a piano ornament that plays a few Christmas songs. All of which he, himself, can play I might add. Sarah received a puppy ornament where she can put an actual photo of her dog, Phantom, in it. As soon as the ornaments were opened and a piece of chocolate had been eaten it was off to bed for these 3 very excited little ones.

Christmas in Killarney

Sarah has been taking Irish Dance for about 3 months now. She has been LOVING it, with a capital "L". Sarah had a blast participating in her first recital. She danced an easy reel, a slip jig, and a change-heel-toe.
The video is the slip jig, and when they form a circle, bend down and come up doing a fluttery hand movement type of thing you can spot Sarah right in the front with white socks and a pony tail.

Here are a few pictures: Sarah with some of her best friends who also dance, trying to take pictures of her dancing, pictures of her after the show with her flowers, her family and her beloved instructor, Mrs. Mary. We're so proud of her.

Home School Christmas Party

Our annual home-school Christmas party this year was held at the skating rink on base. It is always a fun time to get together with lots of other Christian home schooling families.

Sarah and her friends were in charge of the face-painting booth. Sarah didn't skate but she had a great time hanging out with her friends and painting faces.

Micah did not skate, but had a great time trying out all the other activities there. He decorated cookies, a Christmas tree cone, and painted an ornament.

Noah had a great time skating, here he is skating the LIMBO. He and his friends spent almost all 3 hours on wheels.

O! Christmas Tree

On Saturday Rob and Noah worked at the boy scout tree-sales. They came home smelling like pine and full of sap (and bellies full of hot chocolate and cookies). After their shift they picked out our tree and brought it home. Rob put the lights on after the kids went to bed Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon, in between church and night-church, we decorated the tree. Rob wanted to make sure Phantom had a share in all my picture taking.

The 2008 Murphy Christmas tree. Looks Great. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Happy Holidays everyone!
