Phantom's Good Morning to the Cows

Every morning the farmer puts his cows in the field behind our house. We are usually down in the class room for school when this happens, so every morning Phantom tells the cows "Good Morning". The cows will stop and stare at him in turn, which spurs Phantom on to relay all the days goings on. Sometimes, it is a 20 minute "conversation" comprising mainly of howls and guttural growls. Today's greeting was only 2 minutes as it is rainy in only in the mid 30's. Too cold to spend a lot of time exchanging cow pleasantries.....

Phantom's First Hike in the Woods

Today we took Phantom on a nice long walk. He did really well on the leash and surprised us all by how far he wanted to walk on his own. He didn't get tired at all. It was a really lovely day and the walk was a very nice time.

Day 3 in Phantom's World

I have heard it said that kids and puppies are the hardest things to photograph, luckily it's all I seem to know therefore I do not realize how rough-rough it is (no pun intended....... oh, okay, maybe it WAS intended). Phantom loves playing outside with the kids. He isn't too sure what to think of the cows, but luckily they are far enought away to not pose too much of a threat.

It's Good to be King

Day 2 with Phantom puppy. He is settling in BEAUTIFULLY. He loves to be the center of attention. We have been puppy proofing our house and he has been magically finding Lego's that we thought were long lost. It has been fun. He hasn't had any accidents, so (so far) house training has been a breeze. It is hard to get a really great photo of him because he is so, so black. Here he has climbed up on a pile of blankets and decided that it is the perfect place for a nap.

Micah's 5th Birthday

Since Micah's birthday fell on the Sunday after we returned from Garmisch there really wasn't a good way to try and plan a party for him. That was okay since our weekly "night church" includes a meal and fellowship after the study, so it's kind of like a party every week!
We decided just to have a relaxing afternoon at home in between church and night church with Micah's favorite food, pizza.
I am not exactly sure why Micah wanted hie 5th birthday to be a "shark" birthday. He has them planned out until he's 10, you know. All he has talked about is his shark cake....... kind of fun to try and come up with on a Sunday afternoon when you've just returned from vacation the night before at 9:30 PM, no? I think we pulled it off using home-made blue frosting and M&M's.
Here are some pictures from Micah's BIG day.

Friday Hiking at the lake

The next few posts chronicle our recent trip to Garmisch, Germany. We stayed at the military resort, Edelweiss. Please make sure to scroll all the way down to see the WHOLE trip.
It rained almost every day, but we enjoyed ourselves. We got out and saw something everyday and swam in the pool every night.... sounds like a great vacation to me!

Friday, our last day in Garmisch we went hiking around Eibsee. It was the only day we had down in Bavaria that didn't rain. So, we took a 5 mile hike around a lake that sits in between 2 mountain ranges. The lake is at the foot of the Zugspitz, which is the highest point in the Bavarian Alps.

Thursday Shopping and Monastery visit

MORE RAIN! On Thursday we walked all around the village of Garmisch and shopped in the rain. After we visited every quaint little shop we took a drive out the nearby village of ETTAL. There is a monastery there that is just beautiful - and lots of shops with Ettal Beer and liquor. We did some shopping here, too! *smile*

Wednesday at Linderhoff Palace and Cream Puff eating

On Wednesday it was POURING! We went to visit Linderhoff Palace in the morning. It was really neat, but we weren't able to enjoy the beautiful grounds, gardens, fountains, waterfalls, and ponds due to all the rain. After the Palace we went to the Almhutte famous for it's GIANT Bavarian cream puffs. There we warmed up with hot chocolate and yummy snacks.

Tuesday at Neuschwanstein and the Pool!

On Tuesday we awoke to SNOW on the mountains! Forecast said light rain so we took the opportunity to get out and sight-see. We saw Neuschwanstein Castle, ate at a nearby restaurant, stopped at the Weisskirche (White Church) which houses a very famous statue of Jesus Christ that is said to have cried tears. We went to see the magnificent church in which is housed, not the statue. Then we stopped at a wood carvers shop and did some wood carver buying! We ended the day with a nice long swim in the resort pool.
